Two Austrians from Scharding and Ried district were sentenced to prison for ordering counterfeit euro notes from the DarkNet and circulating them as finance for buying addiction issues (drugs).
The information from the police is that the two suspects have order finance for their lives (drug addiction). They have ordered 50 pieces of 50 euro currency notes from the Deep Web and paid through bitcoin of 2500 euros worth counterfeit bills which have cost them a total of 300 euros.
The person from Scharding district is 25year old, and the other from Ried district is 30year old, they were responsible for the crime of possessing counterfeit euro notes and the offense of illicit involvement in narcotic-related crimes before the Regional Court of Ried. According to the criminal laws of Austria, they both could be punished up to 5 years of imprisonment.
According to Alois Ebner, the spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Rudesheim, there were some indications against unknown offenders after they used the fake 50 euro currency. On January 23, 2017, Law Enforcement authorities conducted a thorough investigation and arrested the two convicted criminals.
The police information said that the profit from the exchanged banknotes is made into narcotics from the Czech border area. They have used the traditional methods to acquire the substances because the Law enforcement did not disclose whether the duo sought to order drugs from the dark web. They both have used the dark side of the internet (DarkNet) to purchase the counterfeit 50 euro notes.
At last the Judge Claudia Lechner sentenced the 25-year-old person for 15 months of unconditional imprisonment and the another person to 12 months of imprisonment and 2 months of rehabilitation, totally months behind bars. The imposed sentences are legally binding.
